Lazy Daisy Farm

ABOUT OUR FARM
Lazy Daisy Farm became our home in 2014. We moved from a very small residential lot where we intensively gardened every available square inch to an 8 ½ acre property with room to try out all kinds of agricultural ideas. Our priorities definitely revolve around permaculture concepts of sustainability, water conservation, soil building, and farming without chemical fertilizers or pesticides. We also love to eat great food and nothing is better than growing it yourself! The slow food movement, the 100 mile diet, homesteading, organic foods - all these trends influence our thinking, but for us, it really comes down to simple living and enjoying simple pleasures. Watching chicks hatch, peeping and fighting for attention, observing a mother hen carefully instructing and leading her little brood around the yard, dirty knees and fingernails, the first green garlic sprouts pushing through the mulch, fresh berries. We feel blessed. We also love to share these things with our friends. Come visit, check out our latest projects, snack on whatever is in season and take home some haskap berries.

Chickens on pasture. Moved every day for fresh forage and fertilizer distribution!

Harvesting our Haskap berries for the first time.

The corn patch is a favourite shady hang out spot for the chickens in the heat of the summer. The corn benefits from the added nitrogen too.

Tomatoes and peppers growing strong!

What can we make with this?

Don't you love the variety?

This is where it all happens.

These are Auroras. Our favourite variety for fresh eating.
